Unique Breakfast Event Served up for Paralympian

A innovative online charity initiative, combined with a real life corporate event, have been devised to help one Norfolk athlete achieve her Paralympic Dream in 2020.

Some of the region’s most successful business leaders and sporting achievers will gather at Sprowston Manor, in Norwich on 10 November, for a unique breakfast event to launch an online auction in aid of Jessica-Jane Applegate MBE led by Nwes.

The ticket-only event will see presentations from a number of well known sports stars, with a theme of celebrating the ‘inner champion’, under the banner of Only The Bold, Go For Gold.

Presenters include Karen Pickering MBE, shot-putter Danny Nobbs, footballer Adrian Forbes, and Jessica-Jane herself, who will be detailing her determined journey to compete as a swimmer in Tokyo 2020.

It is hoped the online auction, managed by Norfolk business Sellebrity, will contribute thousands of pounds toward the ongoing Appeal, which was established by Norwich company Nwes earlier this year.

Already, the auction ‘lots’ include a number of money-can’t-buy experiences and memorabilia pieces, including a signed NCFC football shirt and football; a week’s stay in a private villa in the South of France, complete with pool; training time with Jessica-Jane and much more.

Kevin Horne, CEO of Nwes, who first conceived the Appeal to help Jessica-Jane, said: “From the moment you meet Jessica-Jane you get a sense of her determination, and her commitment to achieving the Paralympics dream in 2020.

“As a business, we’ve long been supportive of people with learning disabilities, so I was drawn to wanting to help Jessica-Jane in her mission, as she is perfect proof that such issues should never hold you back – in a professional or sporting career of any kind.”

Speaking about the planned event, Jessica-Jane added: “I am so grateful to Nwes and to the Norfolk community for all they’ve done so far to help me achieve my goal.

“I’m very much looking forward to the launch event in November, and to seeing what great prizes and opportunities are available on the auction. I’ll certainly be adding in some sports memorabilia from my own collection!”

The corporate breakfast event to launch the online auction has limited capacity, but the auction itself will be open to all from Friday 10th November at 11am. The link to the site will be: www.sellebrity.org.uk

Nwes is keen to hear from any businesses or individuals seeking to offer auction prizes or to take part in the event. For more details, please contact events@nwes.org.uk
