A team of burly rugby players are now less than one month away from a very different sporting challenge.
The Club Together fundraisers, all from the Norfolk area – will pedal away on Friday 8th September, to visit every rugby club in the county – a distance of 320 miles.
With an intention to cover some 100 miles each day, the team will be seeking to raise thousands of pounds for East Anglian charities.
“We’re very clear about our objectives of this major event,” said Norfolk businessman, and one of the charity cyclists, Mark Loveday.
“We want to raise a life-changing amount of money for causes in the community, build friendships across the world of rugby locally, and promote healthy lifestyles and having fun.”
The primary organisational charity behind the event is Wooden Spoon. It was founded in 1983 and uses a shared love of rugby to improve the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children and young people.
Each participating rugby club in the September event has put forward a Norfolk-based initiative to benefit from the ride.
