A collective of five determined Norfolk charities is set to ask the region to take part in a month-long campaign focused at will-writing.
In February, Norfolk Will Help returns to the county, bringing together Age UK Norwich, Big C, Keeping Abreast, Nelson’s Journey and NNAB.
With research indicating that two thirds of adults have not made a will, the five organisations are seeking to encourage people to plan for the future.
As part of the initiative, many locally based solicitors and members of the Society of Will Writers have kindly donated appointments to Norfolk WILL Help. In turn this will assist the charities in raising much needed funds throughout February.
Sophie Berry, Funding & Marketing Manager at Nelson’s Journey, said: “We’re really excited to be working with other charities on this project. At the start of a New Year, many people will be making resolutions. Having a will written in early 2018 would be a great commitment to make.”
She added: “At Nelson’s Journey, we are reminded daily that many people reach the end of their life much earlier than expected. It is therefore essential to have your future wishes in place whatever your stage of life.
Members of the public wanting to make a will should go to the website norfolkwillhelp.co.uk.
In return for having their basic will written, clients will be asked to make a suggested donation of £75 for a single will or £120 for mirror wills. All donations will be split equally between the five benefitting charities: Age UK Norwich, Big C, Keeping Abreast, Nelson’s Journey and NNAB.
Norfolk WILL Help was established by Nelson’s Journey in 2016, they were keen to develop a collaborative project which would benefit a range of Norfolk charities. To date over £7,300 has been raised and a number of legacies have been promised to the benefitting charities.
Solicitors and members of the Society of Will Writers also interested in supporting the scheme should contact Nelson’s Journey on 01603 431788.
